(no subject)

Saturday was fairly warm, but very windy. We rode inside and were saved from a sandblasting. Good ride with 3 super canter transitions on each lead- did some nice trot work with shoulder in and haunches in on the circle- another horse came in the arena and Trudi was really good. She was even pretty good in the boogeyman corner, and only spooked once at my jacket --of course this was after I had sat on her back, removed said jacket, and dropped it on the chair in front of her face. Nevertheless, 5 minutes later, she went, "Woah! Where'd THAT come from?"
Sunday was even warmer, and no wind. Before I went to the barn, the family went to the park, and I was hot in a long sleeved shirt and jacket, which was awesome. We rode outside and the nextdoor neighbors were having a bar-b-q. The smell of the burgers made me very hungry. Trudi was quite fantastic considering everything going on over there- Trucks pulling in and out of the driveway, children screaming, an ATV-4-wheeler-dune-buggy-thing zipping back and forth. She was hot and nervous at first, and very tight, and took a long time to work out of it, but she really didn't shy much and just broke to canter a couple of strides without taking off. She must have been tired from Saturday. When she finally did relax we did some good shoulder in, and some working trot- she was actually really tired by the point we got to the work- dingbat. But actualy I was quite proud of her for restraining her naughtiness. We finished up with a little bit of lovely canter. As I cooled her out on the buckle, she suddenly spooked at the mounting block (which had been there the entire time- I climbed on from it) and a white bucket in the neighbor's driveway (also there during the entire ride). I guess it just goes to show that when her attention is on me and she's on the aids, she doesn't notice other things much...I found controlling her hindquarters helped a bunch with this.
