Nov. 29th, 2010 10:16 amSeveral days off from riding while in Breckenridge over Thanksgiving. I came across some ad or something that said "I did" beats "I will" and I thought that was actually pretty true, so I went skiing one day with my dad. I was a little scared of the ski lift- we actually forgot to lower the bar- whoops- but we made it safely up. I wasn't really paying enough attention and failed to get off when I should, so I jumped off late and lost my skiis as I fell onto my hands and knees. They had to stop the lift and I was pretty embarassed.
I am not a good skiier, but 20 years ago I managed to do a decent intermediate-ish job in Wisconsin so I decided to give it a try. It makes me really sad to be able to say "I haven't done X in 20 years" btw.
I did pretty well on what was basically the bunny hill, then we climbed partway up the mountain to get to a green (beginner) run that went past the condo we were renting. I fell twice (on purpose) and made it most of the way down, till there was a really steep place. I said "forget it" to that, and took off my skiis and walked down that hill. I tried to get my skiis back on but could only manage one, so I took them both off and walked the rest of the way to the condo. Couldn't really keep up with my 67 year old dad- he's a better skiier, but still- 67! Go Dad.
Rode Trudi yesterday and she was energetic but very good. Always nice when she welcomes me back. :)
Also? I think skiing is actually more expensive than horses. Maybe.
