and counting...
Feb. 14th, 2007 09:25 amLess than a week to Trudi's ship date- she is supposed to leave on the 20th. Not sure how long it will take her to get here- probably 3 or 4 days. I got insurance, and the papers are ready, just need to hear back from my shipper...

BTW, Happy Valentine's Day!
And, in typical Murphy's Law fashion, immediately after doling out lots of monies for the pony, my car's brakes went... and I needed new tires. I am once again in a sad place financially. C'est la vie...
In local news, hopped on Deputy for a few minutes on Saturday. He was like, "why are we walking? I'm a thoroughbred, why are we walking? Thoroughbreds don't LIKE walking."
I insisted and after about 10 minutes he gave in and walked nicely. I asked him for a trot and suddenly he understood why we were walking. "Trot -owe- trot -owe- trot -owe..." He was very slow and stiff, which I expected, but I think it was a surprise to him. With Deputy sore from his gelding and Fontana lame, I'm dying to be ridenating again.
Nadia got a lesson on Gig, her first time up on a Grand Prix horse. She said the same things I did when I rode him- that he felt like a different KIND of horse, and that he's so flexible and he feels like he has all kinds of extra muscles. Gig was a bit stiff from not having regular work but you could see him get excited when they started to canter and spiral down on a circle- "Oh boy, I'm gonna pirouette, I LOVE PIROUETTES!!!" Nadia didn't really realize this was happening and it sort of startled her, which was quite amusing to watch. It was fun to watch someone experience the magic of the old grey stallion-- monster in the stall, king under saddle.
