Went out to ride Trudi today after a 5 day break. She spooked at something while I was leading her into the arena, and crashed into the side of my right foot. OUCH. It hurt so much, I wanted to beat the crap out of her, but she had already jumped back and looked apologetic and ashamed. Got on, foot stopped hurting, had a lovely warmup- nice stretching, balanced, energetic and forward but calm, great rhythm. I thought about stapling my shoulder blades together and felt like I was doing a good job keeping them back.
Walked for a minute, started trotting again- horse is very uneven to the right. Hmm. Work a little more, seems better- canter. Nice quiet transition and wham, head up, horse falling to pieces. She seemed fine in the walk, and trot left seems fine. Trot right- fine, fine, hitch, head up, fine fine, hitch...
I hopped off and had her trot around without me to make sure it wasn't ME. Nope, still weird steps now and again, with right hind looking off- kind of flexing and holding a little long and then stabbing the ground now and again.

:(

I wanted to cry. I've been in a bit of a funk the last couple of days and I'm like "And now my horse is lame". No heat, no swelling really- but there's a bump below where she scraped up her leg, which I think has been there, but now I'm like wait, is that it? I'll try again tomorrow and see if it seems better- she's not dead lame or anything, just off now and again. I don't know if it's soreness from coming back after an extra couple of days off, or if she tweaked something at the clinic, or if she twisted something spooking, or what- I'll see if it gets better, and have the vet out if not.
