Trudi was really good again last night- seems like she's getting the hang of it. I felt like I hadn't ridden in a really long time. We walked and trotted and then CANTERED as PART of our warmup. Whoa. Usually I have to walk her first or she's all *Rush rush spaz*. Still upping the number of transitions for her - did about 5 each way last night. I found that when the canter started to fall apart that I was NOT sitting in the center of the saddle- so I recentered myself (Lift those legs! Drop those legs!), brought my hands toward the inside a little, and put my inside leg on, and viola, Trudi's shoulders came up and her canter straightened. Sing with me: awwwwwwwwweeesoooooome.
We worked a little on leg yielding and it's good to the left- to the right needs work - just did it at the walk but I'm going to start asking for more in trot and canter.
Trudi's flymask has gone missing- I think because it was always a little big she got it off and it blew away- at least the flies are not so bad now. Someone keeps putting their big, dirty Austrailian stock saddle on top of my saddle though, and that really annoys me- there's a free spot on the saddle horses- I don't know why they don't put it there. I'll have to leave a note or something asking them not to do that.
Trudi herself is looking rather adorably plush these days- her winter coat is coming in but she's still got a little shine to her hair. And she's oh, so soft, except that she shedding quite a bit, so stroking her isn't quite as fun as it looks like it would be.
