So I was reading something on a bulletin board that I totally identified with, which struck me as quite funny. The person was talking about how she had been really lucky with each new horse she rode. Each new horse was smarter than the last horse- she would ride a horse and think, "Wow, he's really smart!" and then time would pass, she would change to a new horse, and she would think "Wow, he's even smarter than the last horse! That's incredible!". By about the 5th horse, it finally dawned on her that maybe it wasn't the horses getting smarter. I went through the same thing- the last horse I rode- I thought she was the smartest horse I'd ever worked with. But then I got Trudi, and SURPRISE! She's really smart too! :D
So I was discussing this with a friend, and she told me this story.
"My trainer told me that years ago she was looking for a horse. And EVERY horse she tried, there were like a dozen- EVERY horse was heavy on the right rein. And she was like, 'What is with these people, training all these horses to go heavy on the right rein? It's so annoying!'. Of course, once she stopped to think about it, she realized maybe it wasn't the horses after all."
