Feb. 20th, 2008 07:53 amLast night was tough - I was tense and it took a while to get Trudi focused. She was really stiff to the left so we did lots of laterals and I tried to get her to relax. I felt pretty frustrated, but pressed on, and managed to get some good, through canter, with a good connection and the falling-down-neck we worked on on Sunday. After that things got better- we started getting throughness in the trot, and eventually I was able to keep that good connection both directions for probably about 10 minutes. The rhythm was not as steady as I would have liked, and I was really fighting my body- legs kept wanting to slide forward and up, and my upper body was sort of weak, my shoulders kept getting stuck, and we could have been more forward at times. Overall though, she was very good in her body and she got a bit tired afterward. We even managed to keep the throughness, connection, and a bit of jump at the canter, while slowing it down a bit instead of flying around- so that makes me happy. I considered the night salvaged.
