So in spite of a windy day and some people shouting, Trudi was quite the trooper. I was really proud of her and her focus. Had a nice lady out at the barn do a couple minutes of video of us because I had my camera, so after I got on and walked a couple of laps, she got us trotting and cantering. Trudi was very energetic in the trot and a little fast, but after she warned up in the canter and we got a few through strides she looked beautiful and did some more of those great trot transitions. She was good in the corner she hated on Saturday, and only had a couple of spooks- one where she teleported sideways, and I said "Uh uh," and she went "Oh, Sorry!" and hopped right back over to the spot where she was when she spooked- it was really funny. :D
I watched the footage and I despair of ever being a pretty rider. I could actually see myself sitting too much to the outside going to the right, which I've been working on, and was happy to see myself correct from time to time. But I always seem to ride with my head stretched way in front of my body and I keep sticking my feet out in front of me. It looks awful.
I know I can stay on pretty well, I know I have some feel, and I know I have a seat (at least sometimes) and my core is working harder because I feel it (I even see some abdominal muscles now), and I know that that helps the horse because I can feel that and I see her developing. But I want to cry whenever I see my head stretched so far in front of my body (I know why this is- it's how my head is all the time because I've always been very nearsighted [due to reasons glasses can't correct]) and so I ride that way too. The other problem is my lower legs. Oh, how I envy the legs of the Grand Prix riders in my glossy magazines, with their toes behind the edge of the girth instead of having their feet stuck out in front of them, bracing and looking awful like mine do. Maybe I need to be put in traction or a bodycast or something.
:P
So Yay Trudi! and Boo to me.
