I forgot what perfect weather feels like.
Last night was warm, not hot, and there was NO wind.
Trudi was super. She's finally starting to lose her fuzzy look- but she's really dirty and still shedding some so she doesn't look sleek either. She snorted nervously in the aisle while I tacked her up, and I'm still not sure what at. I set up a teeny crosspole in the middle of the ring and worked her around it, and she was great. She was supple and very obedient and just a pleasure to ride. I think yesterday's lesson did her a world of good. The canter was not quite as nice but the trot was much better. We did some laterals, changes between and within the gaits, and she was energetic and responsive but not tense or too hot. I made her go through the BC and she was mostly great about it, except for one time when we were trotting on through and she suddenly spooked so hard I about came off- it was a backward/diagonal teleport (which I find much harder to sit than most forward moving ones) but I managed to stay on and the next time through there was no spook. So crazy, I still have no idea what she finds scary or why.
We finished up popping over the teeny crosspole, which I think she kind of likes- just trotting up to it and hopping over. She never actually tries to clear it unless I give her leg, which is kind of funny, but she still seems to enjoy it. Nutty horse.
