Jul. 7th, 2008 07:31 amHmm, I'm pretty behind. Last lesson was good- Trudi wasn't dead, but the heat took the edge off her- it was pretty much just how I'd like her all the time- enough energy to work, without being silly. We did lots of bending on the circle- shoulder in, haunches in, and then the same bending to the outside. I was better with my left leg/seat and my hips and shoulders. I had worked a lot the day before on getting Trudi more into the right rein when tracking left, and I could feel the difference. We worked on getting her lower in the neck and it seemed better overall- it's so easy for her to get too high in her neck and that makes it hard for her to stay connected and through. We even worked at the spooky end with a minimum of resistance, much to my shock. I've tried to be dilligent about not "giving up" when she's being a goofball, and to keep asking for the same thing instead of changing what I'm doing, and it seemed to help- like that old saying- "Don't quit riding". We finished up with canter serpentines- canter a loop, trot on the straightaway, pick up the other lead, do the loop, trot... I was pretty much dead already, and having a majorly hard time with the trot transitions. We got a couple but most of the time I was flopping around the saddle and so she blew on through. In general though Trudi was a star and did the upward canter transitions very easily- I was really proud of her and she knew it. ^_^
