Oct. 11th, 2008 07:50 pmIt is cold and wet. My backyard looks like Ireland. When I looked out my kitchen window this morning, the sky was grey, the grass a ridiculous lush emerald, and one of my rose bushes has bright pink blooms.
Trudi was of course feeling pretty frisky, I let her trot and canter a bit before I got on but she never really relaxed totally. Without her back we both ended up working harder. Oh well, it wasn't a total bust- after a while Trudi was really trying quite hard, it just would have been nice to have the stars align. Nothing terrible, just not great. It was fun to see Nadia for a minute and give her the pictures I took a couple of months ago- it seems so long ago when you compare the hot sunny weather then to the chilly damp now. I cleaned tack and forced myself to go wash Trudi's blankets.
This was actually the highlight of my morning. A fellow boarder told me about a nearby laundromaat, and it was quite impressive. The machines went from regular, to double load, to Giant Load, to SUPER GIANT LOAD...

TO MONSTER:

Monster can do a 75 pound load and costs $7.75. I put in both my large, insulated horse blankets, and the machine was about half full. I think 2 adult humans could sit inside the thing. The attendant was miffed that I only used one single-serving box of detergent, but they came out BEAUTIFULLY. While I was waiting a nice lady offered me some fabric softner, which I found amusing. ^_^
The dryers were as impressive, if not more. I stuck one blanket in each dryer and for 50 cents each (16 minutes) the blankets went from dripping puddles on the floor to slightly damp.
The only thing to tarnish my experience was that the Tekken 3 machine ate my quarters, (I even tried both sides, sigh)- so it sat there taunting me with its unachievable entertainment. I settled for my ipod and listened to some music instead.
