Aug. 21st, 2010 07:36 pmGot to meet my 2nd Olympian today. ^_^ Hubby got up early again, as did the kiddo (chirping with happiness- "Thanks for letting me get up so early!") and we travelled to Estes Park for the horse show. Originally ended up at the wrong spot (Dog show) but less than a mile down the road we made it to the horse show.
I scribed for Charlotte Bredahl Baker. She introduced herself as "Charlotte" and I thought of her name instantly - I've read things about her/by her but never met her or closely studied photos of her. I got a chance to look at a day sheet a while later to confirm it.
Still, cool as that is, I think people are mainly just people (even if they are really awesome at something) and I only gushed a little "Yes, I've read about you". I showed her a picture of Trudi on my phone, she showed me one of her and her QH, and we chatted about our horses a bit.
Scribing was much more educational with her as she didn't feel the need to write a novel for every movement, so I got to actually watch a lot of the movements and see how they were scored. We did second level all morning and training level in the afternoon. I really enjoyed scribing for her.
The weather was fantastic except that the wind kicked up a little and grabbed a test now and again. The setting was incredibly beautiful- we were centered directly in the midst of the mountains. No matter which way you looked, there was a stunning backdrop of pine-covered peaks against blue sky, dotted with puffy white clouds. And of course, I had taken my camera out of my backpack. *headdesk*
