Dec. 19th, 2011 08:58 amSo I have purchased another new girth for Trudi this year- she still has hairless spots on each side so apparantly cutout-for-elbows-forward-girth-groove-girth + plushy girth sock is not going to cut it. *sigh*
So, I am trying a padded nylon girth with fleece. Old girth was just padded nylon, so hopefully this will work.
Poor sensitive red mare...
Had a lesson on Saturday where I kind of sucked. I was just weak and could not really get my body to do what I wanted, although I was feeling some changes in my hips and legs- interestingly, the work I've been trying to do on my hips seemed to make my lower legs seem very stable, like they didn't seem to want to move the way they sometimes do when I post, so that's probably a good thing. We did just a little canter work from trot spirals- trot 20 m circle, spiral to 10, back out to 20, canter, back to trot, repeat.
Things to remember on trot lengthenings- stretch legs down and put hands down while stretching up with my body and thinking about riding her up.
Yesterday built a pre-baked gingerbread house with a friend and the kiddo. It comes with the cookie parts, frosting, and some candy, but of course I felt the need to supplement with skittles and M&Ms. It worked out well, there is a little plastic tray that helps hold things up, and so all you have to do is frost things and stick them together. After we completed it, took pictures, and ate dinner, I fulfilled a childhood dream of actually eating some gingerbread house (always as a kid I would see one and be told I couldn't touch it, much less EAT it). It was sturdy gingerbread, but pretty good, and the icing definitely made it better. It's amazing what a lot of gingerbread actually goes into the walls and roof of even a small house though. Of course the kiddo didn't even like the gingerbread, he only likes to pick off the candy and eat that.
ETA:
Darn that little blond menace Hansel, always eating my house...
