It's always encouraging to have a really great ride after a really crappy one. After the spooky Saturday ride and a busy day on Sunday, I almost didn't go but I really felt like I needed to. So I went, and we had some really good work (in spite of a cat leaping into our path from the 6 inch gap between the doors-- yes, the same doors she was spooking at yesterday. Of course following the cat she didn't bat an eye on Sunday. Horses!). It started out with good stretching but a lot of crookedness, especially at the canter, so we did more bending and transitions. We ended up getting some balanced canter (even some good stuff on the 15 m circles, huzzah). Felt the crookedness to the left, and saw her darn right front hoof flicking out on the circle- so counterflexed, used my right leg, needed more forward, got it, gave some support with the right, sat straighter, and somehow I got rhythm, I got impulsion, I got straightness, who could ask for anything more?
Granted, it was only about a half circle of straight, through trot, but oh, it was NICE. And trot poles, when she does them right, are FUN.
