Trudi reminded me of what I like about her last night. We rode inside, and she tried spooking at the boogeyman corner (as usual), and I kinda just RODE, the way I should- inside leg off, inside leg on, gently and insistantly banging on her-
Trudi: "Yipes! Leg! Uh, move over?"
Yep, good horsey.
Next time through- trotting. Trudi slams on the brakes, leg off, leg on, repeat, horsey walks through the corner. And I didn't get mad, and she got over it, and- well, yay. We cantered a circle, she tried to fall in, I pushed her over, she broke- I put her back into canter, next time she stayed on circle.
I just rode pretty well last night, I was calm, I was sitting in the saddle, I was with the horse, my balance was good, I did my homework. Trainer suggested working on alternating between rising and sitting trot, since on the lunge with no reins I totally lose my balance when I switch- and it really helped my sitting trot. We'd do 5 - 7 strides posting, then the same number sitting, back to posting- kept me relaxed and her back up. We also worked on canter spirals and Trudi was really getting it- she was moving off my leg well, and balancing herself on the 10 m circles.
She stayed good in her back and we did some really good transitions- refreshingly good night.
