Saturday was an insanely gorgeous day. The sun was shining brightly, the sky was very blue with a few little white clouds, and the air smelled like flowers and warm grass. I brought my camera, hoping to get some pictures of us in this lovely setting.
However, it was breezy, and by the time I was finishing my lesson it was downright windy, and there was lots of activity at the barn- a bobcat in the indoor (the machinery, not the mammal), and circular saws by the outdoor, as well as some planting in the garden at the other end of the outdoor. Trudi was a redheaded mare and fretted in the crossties- I had unhooked the throatlatch of her halter to brush her face, and she spooked backward at something blowing in the aisle. I lightly slapped her butt to move her forward again, and she took a few steps forward, and instead of stopping as the crossties tightened, she took a couple more steps forward and then swung her haunches around, which managed to wrap one rope halfway around her neck and pull the noseband of the halter down across her upper lip and nostrils. She was quite frightened by this (roll your eyes and throw up your hands in despair with me at my ninny horse) but managed to stand still long enough for me to unhook the ropes, which fortunately did not totally go flying when released. Fixed the halter, put her back in the grooming stall and reattached her, and managed to finish tacking up without incident.
Outside she was stiff, snorty, and blowing, but actually not much else, for which I was very thankful. She tried very hard to pay attention but couldn't entirely let go of her tension. So her trot was very animated and she generally pulled like a freight train and made me push all 1100 pounds of her over every single step- particularly to the left. I was pretty much exhausted after about 15 minutes of that. But aside from 2 small spooks and one massive one that just about dumped me, things were realtively uneventful, and better than I hoped.
Pictures- I pulled out the best ones- the worst ones show me so rounded in the back that I wanted to bleach my eyes after I saw them. *Sigh* It looks like I'm back to the battle of the torso. Also-TMI- I need to hoist my chest up about 4 inches.
I think there is some improvement on my leg though. Trudi, as always, is her silly but lovely self. I think you can see why I refer to her as a "daddy-longlegs" in some of these... :D

A big version of my "Andalusion" photo- I just thought she looked like one of those picture where there is a parade or something and an Andalusian doing spanish walk (though obviously this is a trot).

(Trudi: To hell with you and your bending, lady.)

(Just in case you were wondering what she looks like in her more...challenging moments. I actually really like this picture, because my upper body is upright, but also, check out that leg. Stirrup might be gone, but that leg is just where it should be. :D )

And a nice one to end on. ^_^ I'm not actually asking for anything here, she's just finding it hard to contain herself.
