Trudi appears to have stopped shedding. The problem is, she's still quite fuzzy. I wonder if this is like her intermediate coat...all the horses I've had in the past went straight from winter to summer. Not so with her- she's still like a plush stuffed animal. No slick shiny coat for me. (Although it is shinier, softer, and cleaner than when she came).
Had another annoying session on the lunge today- no matter what I do, frequently she stops to face me and will not move off in the direction I specify. I whacked her a couple of times for stopping and trying to turn the opposite direction, but unlike a normal horse she would not move away-- if anything, she simply tries to back up. *sigh* I found things got a bit better when I gave her more room and simply pointed and cracked the whip- but why can't she just WALK off in a civilized fashion instead of having to charge off at the end of the line? She refuses to walk on the lunge line when she's wearing a bridle, and as soon as I apply enough pressure for her to break from trot she stops and faces me. I'm about ready to give up on it and just keep lunging her in the halter- she goes well in it, and if it's a bit unorthadox who cares so long as it works. She can still wear the bridle and side reins underneath to get used to the contact. I hate lunging. I always have. I understand it's usefulness, but I hate it.
