riding the wave
Nov. 30th, 2007 08:58 amUp and down... not a great time last night- not horrible, just seemed like we were both struggling some. When I first got on, I got a frigging CHARLIE HORSE in my FOOT as I was trying to put my right foot in the stirrup. Yay for Trudi staying quiet while I was in agony.
We got a workout, and I think the problem is just too many days off, but life is getting in the way and there's not much to do but deal with it. Hopefully we'll get back into a better routine, though it might not be till after the holidays.
One good thing- we'd canter, then trot, and this tends to give Trudi a bigger, freer, more forward trot, but she can get to where she builds up a head of steam and wants to plow on the forehand. So I have to half-halt, LOTS, and it's really hard not to try and hold her, especially when the steering gets worse. But I worked on giving leg before resisting with my hands (because what I really want to do is just go "Oh God!!!" and pull back on the reins and forget the leg) and I actually felt her hind legs come under more, her hocks flex a little, and her body came up- but dang, it's hard. :)
