Jun. 1st, 2008 09:07 amInteresting lesson yesterday- Trudi definitely feels stronger in her topline. She's more fit which means stuff is easier for her, but she's hotter/spookier too. Trainer suggested riding her more often or turning her out- probably a very good suggestion, but free time for me is in short supply. Trudi warmed up pretty well, then we were planning to do some stuff on the lunge but she was just not paying attention- all she wanted to do was scoot around, so trainer just lunged her without me on for a bit. It was really cool to watch- Trudi looked beautiful working. She's gotten more uphill and is almost done shedding, so she was shiny and her muscles showed really well. I got back on and we just did more work- officially did half steps for the first time, which I'm still figuring out, and she's getting to where she can do a few steps of medium trot when I'm sitting instead of posting. The collection in the canter is still mostly elusive- she gets it every now and again, but it's very inconsistant- usually just happens once in a while on a 10 m circle.
She was kind of a snot going to the right- again protesting about her least favorite corner, but that's par for the course. At any rate she was sweating from nose to tail when we finished. If dressage doesn't pan out I guess she could be an endurance horse. :)
