Jul. 16th, 2008 06:09 am I fell in to a burning ring of fire,
and it burns, burns, burns...
Really fun ride last night. Trudi was hot, hot, hot. She was constantly breaking into the canter - "Now?" "Now?" "How bout now?". Trot warmup she was sort of throwing her legs all over the place- she was crooked and unbalanced and so full of exuberance it sort of just leaked everywhere, and dang, was it messy.. . Eventually she calmed down just a bit and gave me some really nice walk and then some really good trot work. Trainer kept reminding me to stick my butt to the saddle and sit deep, and eventually this led to me sitting this nice trot pretty well. After a few minutes my spare tire became a ring of fire, which pleased her greatly. We did a bit of medium across the short diagonal, and trainer was telling me to really get the hindlegs stepping under. I thought at first Trudi had slipped, because her hindquarters dropped like six inches and her withers popped up, and then after a few strides I realized she had just sat down and was WORKING IT. So I was pretty thrilled and made a big hairy deal out of her for that. She was kind of smug. ^_^
So we rested a bit and then wrestled with some lateral work to the left. I couldn't seem to engage her inside hind and kept losing everything out the right shoulder. We went to the right and everything was easy peasy. After pondering a bit I realized I was collapsing the left side of my body when going to the left, so we tried again, I sat up, and viola, so much easier. Trudi was like "FINALLY, you NINNY". Crazy firecracker goodness.
