Jul. 18th, 2008 07:58 amHot weather, hot horse. Dang. I rode yesterday morning (hooray for flex days) and it was already hot by about 10 am. It was hot just walking out to get Trudi, and I sunburned my right forearm (apparantly I managed to actually get the sunscreen on the left). Tacked her up, took her out, and she started spooking at a big paper bag on the ground. Retrieved the bag, showed it to her *snort* *quiver* *snort*... and someone leaving the arena took it with and threw it away. Got on Trudi - she was hot and rarin' to go again in spite of the heat and the work on Tuesday. Long ride of more or less rasslin' with her for her attention and compliance- a little good canter left, some good canter right, then suddenly wackiness to the right where she decided bending was confusing and kept switching leads halfway- change in back, wiggle wiggle wiggle change in front then change again in back- awful. Stopped her, worked on bending at walk and trot, sighed as she oggled the hay truck, and then did a bit more canter right and it was better. Did a bit of collected trot and when that was good we called it a day. Oh, and I nearly got dumped a couple of times in the NEW boogeyman corner (it's like the second boogeyman corner once removed).
