Dec. 3rd, 2008 08:47 amGood ride last night. I got on and felt like I'd had 3 days off though- crazy how quickly my body got into a groove. I will be really sad when it wears off. :(
Trudi was plodding at the walk at first, thanks to spending the 60 degree day in her blanky (sorry pony- how was I to know it would be 60 on Dec 2nd?). She settled into work pretty quickly though, and I felt like we got right back to most of what we had in the last lesson, which was great. BC is still the BC, but right lead canter was way better overall and I'm starting to feel a bit hopeful that we might lick this yet. It seems to really puzzle Trudi that she can canter more slowly- when we get it her ears start going and she's like "Dude, are we really doing this?". Balance is still worse to the right though. It's interesting how challenging it is for me to ride the canter slower- I'm used to it being so fast that now it's like my butt tends to come out of the saddle and I'm like trying to swing faster than I should. To the left things were great and the BC was not very scary when we cantered through it that way- it's better than in the past and I'm not so worried aobut it now. Trot is a bit tricky because now I have to work for a tempo that is not too fast, but ride her forward enough that she doesn't get stuck in this goofy, lurchy, not-passage-and-not-walk ugliness.
