Mar. 5th, 2010 08:15 amGood ride last night. Trudi came out willing to work - very nice in the warmup walk/trot stuff, did some serpentines and the balance and bend were good. "Impulsion is a gift!" I tried to tell myself as I sat some through but energetic trot. Canter- did some right lead canter transitions that were balanced and not rushing. To the left I screwed up and let her break, then tried to put her back in the canter right away and ended up with a racing, unbalanced, bone jarring trot... fixed that and then did some better canter, though still a little bit charging. More trot serpentines and she was tired, so she started climbing with her front end and disappeared from under my seat. I got a little more good trot out of her and brought her to a walk, where she was like "I still feel the burn!" and tried to get jiggy and silly. I remembered to stick my butt in the saddle and think forward and give leg and it did not turn into A BIG DEAL. I just had to be really vigillant about it.
On shopping in Europe-
My dad is going to Vienna in May, so I was like "Hey, maybe he can grab me a pair of breeches and save me some money." He's happy to have something to do on a day when the buddy he's visiting has to work, so he told me to try and find some tack shops and tell him what I want.
To my dismay, I couldn't seem to find any tack shops in Vienna. So pulled up Vienna on google maps and started looking for Wien, one of the towns listed as having a tack shop, to see how far away it was from Vienna. And then realized they are the same place (thank you, wikipedia, for confirming my ignorance). Yes, I am geographically and culturally ignorant.... :D
Also, while trying to find tack shops, I came across this:
