Saturday I went to the feed store with the kiddo, then went to the tack shop and bought him his own helmet. He picked out a pretty seafoam green one (troxel calls it "melon", he calls it "green") and it looks totally adorable on him. I thought $45 was very reasonable- so even if he only rides a few times I think it's worth it. We went to the barn and I had a good ride on Trudi, who was totally shocked to find 5 horses in the indoor, but she was a good kid in spite of some newbie riders almost crashing into her. Let the kiddo try out his new helmet, and he had a grand old time, although at one point he had me stop the horse so he could talk to me.
Me: "You don't have to stop the horse to talk to me. Just talk while you ride."
Him: "No, I need to look at you."
?
Anyway. He told me in the car that he had fun, but that it would have been better if I had let him ride longer.
We dashed home from the barn, I changed shoes, coat, and pants and made it to my hair appointment just in time. I chopped off about 11 inches- really like the cut though it's going to take a little while to get used to styling it and I am starting to think I'm getting to an age where I ought to wear makeup all the time because I look pretty dreadful without it. Knowing me though, that's probably not gonna happen. I seriously need eye makeup that comes with erasers.
Sunday we had another really good ride- there is a slight tendency on Trudi's part to curl once in a while so I'll have to watch that- but overeall really good effort on her part, good lateral work, and the canter still has some consistantly good strides. She felt tired but willing and I was very proud of her.
Finished decorating the tree and cooked dinner- go domestic goddess. ;)
