Oh geez am I sore. Hard lesson today- as I led Trudi into the arena she went into red alert giraffe mode, and I spotted a large black trash bag in the weeds- soon as I removed it (sigh, will she ever get over her hatred of plastic bags? I fed her treats out of a Target bag for a month, but she just HATES them) and she quit snorting and shying. She was still full of herself though and stayed tight in her back most of the ride.
We did have some excellent canter, and the right lead has improved immensely after our work this week. It was much harder to maintain my focus during the lesson, because there is much more to do, much more quickly, but I believe I can learn to develop more focus while multitasking.
So tired though. Trainer put us through shoulder-in, haunches in, etc, to canter transitions, back to shoulder in, while Trudi was all YAYAYAYA, trying to zip off with her head held high. There was none of the beautiful, relaxed, through sitting trot of Thursday, except for a bit at the very end- but it's good to get my butt kicked now and again. She kept yelling to me about my stomach and crunches, and so I kept tightening my abs and trying to pull my upper body forward, because I felt like my head was moving toward the tail and my butt was sliding toward the ears- and later found trainer DIDN'T want my upper body more forward- whoops, comedy of errors. Oh, but she was a harsh mistress today.

Trainer: "...and, Canter."
Me: "Nooooooooo....I can't....agghhh...I can't...."
Trainer "Yes!"
Me: "Agh, I can't..*gasping* I'm dying..."
We cantered.
I lived.

Barely.
