Broken

I broke myself. Tuesday, stressful day at work, good ride, a little sore- bath, tylenol, bed.
Wednesday- sorta stiff, VERY stressful day at work, hunched over fabric for 2 hours working on my kid's halloween costume. Go to bed, wake up stiff and sore. You guessed it, another sressful day at work. Something is definitely out of whack and I desperately want to pop it back into place, but can't. I dangle from my arms, turn my head, stretch my neck, etc, but it won't go. I kinda shrug and go out to the barn. I wet down the dust in the arena, and as I'm pushing on the handle to turn off the pump a muscle kinda goes "Twang, Twitch" and I'm about falling over from the pain. So yeah. I realized I couldn't ride (heck, probably couldn't even manage the bridle) which really bugged me, because I really wanted to- the weather finally warms up, and now when I move an arm a certain way, or turn my head, or bounce, I have painful little muscle spasms. Stupid posture. Stupid stress. Stupid body.

:(

Is it in your back? Fwiw now, I am in love with Homedics shiatsu back chair massager. Even if you don't want to fork over the money for one, maybe get your husband, or find a cosmetology school that offers cheap massages. The only way, I think, that I've managed to work my ass off so much and not end up with an incredibly screwed up back is thanks to my massager. Pain pills only mask the problem, and sometimes stretching doesn't do it, so kneading the muscle and working the knot free is the cure.

I really hope you feel better soon, sounds like your tore something or popped an attachment, OW.

Those chairs really work? Hmmm....
Hubby is an excellent massuse, but he hates doing it (he has arthritis so I can't blame him). I would love to find cheap massages, there's a massage school that does them cheaper- just getting the free time and getting there is the hard part. And even a cheap massage is still expensive. :P I made hubby massage me some and do some traction on my head after I jacked myself up thursday- it was so bad that after we were able to stretch muscles in my neck (felt so great), as soon as he would start to relax the pressure the muscles would spasm again- that sucked.
All the anti-inflamatories and rest did help - I was able to do a short ride last night and as I was putting my saddle away, I tugged on the saddle pad underneath the saddle with my left hand to smooth it out. There was just enough resistance that I popped something back into place. I still have a wicked little angy knot of muscle, but i think the vertebra or whatever that was misaligned is back where it should be- just have to get the muscle happy so it doesn't pull it back out.
