Okay, so I guess she was ready. More leaning over Trudi's back as I brushed her last night, then I put the saddle on, with the stirrups this time. Got her used to the snap of the leather from pulling down the stirrups, then would pull them a few inches from her side and let them fall back into place, which she did not like, but eventually accepted. I tightened the girth a bit more (again, here comes the nose- "Hey, you didn't MEAN to do that, did you?") and lowered the stirrups to the bottom hole. I stuck my foot in and did little hops to get her used to the extra effort it sometimes takes to get up- no problem. So alley oop, I pulled myself up and laid across the saddle. No problem. Pattiing, praising, getting down and carrot giving. Did it again on the left, still fine. Went to the right side and did the same thing, and she was still fine. I called it a good night's work and untacked her. Cool. ^_^
