Nov. 17th, 2008 08:03 amNice weekend- rode Friday night, and Trudi was not too bad. I did some interesting little patterns on a square, at the trot and canter- circle, corner, circle, corner, circle, corner, circle, across the diagonal, do the other side...
About 12 hours later, we had an early morning lesson, and she was hot- but aside from some fast canter (ZOOM!), we had a good ride. Trainer had us doing a lot of flexing and bending to supple her and give her something to work on, and we ended up with some great trot shoulder-ins both ways. I fought with my body a lot, since it didn't particularly want to keep my legs under me or my seat in the saddle, or my hands independant of my seat, but the end was good. The weather was gorgeous and I'm really going to miss these warm, sunny days- it's pretty much unheard of this time of year. Trudi was pooped, standing with her legs all splayed when I untacked her- she was like "Dude, what just happened?". I cleaned out her pen really well and gave her some shavings and a new mineral block, and I rinsed some of the really dirty spots off her blanket- at that point *I* was pooped. ^_^
Sunday I wormed her with some apple flavored pyrantel and then we worked inside. We fought a little bit, but mostly I just tried not to get distracted by her antics. I sat down more when she was being a booger and tried to get back on track instead of getting mad, and so there was some good canter work and very good trot by the time we were done. I am feeling it in my back and my legs and my belly, which actually makes me happy. Also, hooray for the massage pillow. ^_^
